About us.

Launching in march of 2023 The Future is Queer began as a showcase event aiming to celebrate the next generation of LGBTQIA+ talent. Since then TFIQ has evolved into a queer artist collective, curating queer focused entertainment in many different forms: from intimate cabaret shows to high energy queer club nights, from main stage takeovers to educational artist talks.

In our first year alone we quickly built a strong following in the North East with our monthly residency event based in Newcastle. We worked closely with established festivals such as Northern Pride where we hosted a stage takeover, showcasing a line up of exciting up and coming local queer artists. We then closed our year with a nomination for Event of the Year at The Gaydio Pride Awards

Creating lyrically honest tracks coupled with elements of electro/dark pop vibes Michael T Ogilvie takes inspiration from the likes of Tove Lo, MNEK, Troye Sivan and Charli XCX; blending unapologetic pop melodies with moody vocals. As a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community Michael is regularly involved in festivals/events that promote the equality and wellbeing of any and all LGBTQ+ members. Michael launched The Future is Queer in March 2023: producing and curating each line up since as well as hosting and performing at each event.

What They're Saying

"Great to see The Future is Queer grow event after event"

For LGBTQIA+ performers and entertainers to have space where they can perform to new and returning audiences, to experiment with new genres or share original work, is fantastic. I’m excited to be working with TFIQ team on this year’s Pride in the City with their stage takeover, and to see what amazing plans they have in store, showing us what the future can look like for our queer community.
